Personality: When we first meet Kyoko, she appears to be a sadistic character who only wishes to start trouble with Sayaka for being the new magical girl. A trouble maker is the best way to explain Kyoko, living on her own and traveling from hotel to hotel. Usually, she's seen while eating some sort of snack, often talking with her mouth full because of her poor manners. Kyoko is quite a hot head and too cocky for her own good; this may possibly because she's such a good fighter and because she's so powerful. During battle, she tends to get aggressive and shows no mercy on her opponent, claiming that she has an attack that can cause someone to be injured for at least three months.
However, when Kyoko gets to know someone and care of them, she'll become a loyal friend to them and trust them. When Sayaka had many doubts, Kyoko took her to an old church that happened to be the one that her father was the priest of. She explained to Sayaka about how her dad had many people who wouldn't believe in his preaching, so when Kyoko had the chance she made the wish to Kyuubi to have the people believe him. When her father found out about this, he went into rage and killed her entire family except Kyoko. She ran away and felt as if using the wish on someone else was the worst idea she had ever had.
Because of Kyoko's dysfunctional family, and her choice of living; this makes her very lonely and an outsider compared to everyone else. Not only is she an outsider because of her magical powers, but because of other reasons, such as she does not go to school like Madoka and her friends. Kyoko lives entirely by herself in the hotel that she's staying at, the only company that she sometimes get is from Kyuubi. Her loneliness is rarely seen, but more noticeable during her death. Although she's cruel, and egoistic, Kyoko is not a bad person. Her wish for her father proves her inner kindness.
Kyoko has a bad habit of thinking of herself before others, constantly. She isn't afraid to use her magic for her own needs, even if it may effect other people, as long as it satisfies herself. Kyoko only uses her magic powers for herself and no one else. Sayaka also hinted that she possibly be stealing her own food so that she can survive, since Kyoko has no other way to purchase food. She eventually breaks out of the shell of being so selfish and begins to care more about other people, especially Sayaka. It is fact that Kyoko even goes with Sayaka on witch hunts to guide her. When Sayaka becomes a witch, she does everything she can to bring her back. Her first plan was to bring Madoka with her to the Octavia and attempt to bring Sayaka back with Madoka's voice. Unfortunately that fails, and it ends with Madoka getting attacked. They find no way to save Sayaka, Kyoko risks her life while fighting Octavia and sacrifices herself just so Sayaka wouldn't have to be alone. In the earlier timeline, Kyoko is murdered by Mami who discovered that within time, all magical girls will become witches.
Abilities: Being a magical girl, Kyoko is able to use magic. She is able to do this because of the wish she made to Kyuubi. The Soul Gem that she wears around her neck is very important if anything ever happened to it, not only would she lose her powers but Kyoko would be killed instantly. She fights with a spear that snaps into pieces and hook onto it with a chain.
